In scalp care, “layering” does not mean piling on many products. It means using rinse-off and leave-in products in the correct order. The basic Mirissa Lab routine is simple: shampoo → rinse → serum.
1. Shampoo: The Cleansing Step
Apply a sufficient amount of Mirissa Lab Scalp Shampoo to wet hair and scalp. Lather with a gentle massage and work the product across the scalp. Leave it on for 1–2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat if needed. The shampoo is suitable for daily use.
The shampoo formula contains care ingredients including Zinc PCA, Panthenol, Inulin, Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate, Betaine, Bisabolol, Aloe Vera, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1, Apigenin and Oleanolic Acid.
2. Serum: The Leave-In Care Step
After fully rinsing the shampoo, dry the scalp or leave it slightly damp. Part the hair and apply Mirissa Lab Scalp Serum directly to a clean scalp. Distribute gently with your fingertips and do not rinse.
For a regular care routine, the current directions recommend using the serum several nights per week. Nighttime use is a practical routine preference; the product does not have to be used only at night.
The serum formula contains Niacinamide, Zinc PCA, Panthenol, Squalane, Allantoin, Biotinoyl Tripeptide-1 and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3. Apigenin, Oleanolic Acid and Trifolium Pratense Flower Extract are also listed in the INCI.
Why Shampoo First and Serum Second?
Shampoo is a rinse-off cleansing product, while the serum is designed to remain on the scalp. Applying the serum before shampooing and then washing it off would not follow its intended leave-in use.
What Does Massage Do?
Gentle fingertip massage during shampooing and after serum application helps distribute the product evenly across the scalp. Mirissa Lab does not claim that massage increases follicular penetration or the efficacy of the serum because there is no finished-product evidence supporting those claims.
How Often Should I Use the Routine?
The shampoo is suitable for daily use. For the serum, the regular care routine is several nights per week. Frequency can be adjusted within the product directions according to scalp needs and tolerance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does serum go before or after shampoo?
After. Shampoo and rinse the scalp thoroughly, then apply the serum to a clean, dry or slightly damp scalp.
Do I rinse out the serum?
No. Mirissa Lab Scalp Serum is a leave-on scalp care product.
Do I need to use the serum every day?
No. The current directions recommend several nights per week for regular use. More frequent use does not guarantee better results.
Can I use the serum only at night?
No. Nighttime use is convenient for a routine, but the serum can also be applied during the day to a clean scalp.
Do the shampoo and serum contain the same actives?
No. Some ingredients overlap, but the formulas are different. For example, Niacinamide and Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3 are in the serum, while Inulin and Lactobacillus Ferment Lysate are in the shampoo.
This is a cosmetic-care usage guide. Follow each product’s directions. Persistent or marked scalp symptoms should be evaluated by a dermatologist.
